We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to lead the maintenance and overall health of our golf course grounds. In this vital role, you will oversee daily operations, coordinate landscape maintenance activities, and ensure the course remains in pristine condition for players and visitors alike. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance programs for turf, landscaping, trees, and hardscape features to ensure the course’s visual appeal and functionality.
- Operate and oversee grounds maintenance equipment including mowers, power tools, irrigation systems, excavators, and snow plowing machinery to execute daily tasks efficiently.
- Manage irrigation systems to optimize water usage while maintaining healthy turf and plant life across all areas of the course.
- Conduct plant identification, pest management, pesticide application, and tree care activities following safety protocols and environmental regulations.
- Coordinate landscaping projects such as planting new greenery, hardscape installations, and renovation efforts to enhance course aesthetics.
- Supervise staff responsible for mowing, gardening, snow removal, tree trimming, and general grounds upkeep while ensuring adherence to safety standards.
- Perform routine inspections of equipment and grounds to identify maintenance needs or safety hazards promptly.
Skills
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with hands-on experience operating ground maintenance and landscaping equipment.
- Expertise in landscape maintenance, gardening, turf management, and horticulture practices.
- Proficiency with irrigation systems, plant identification techniques, pesticide management protocols, and hardscape construction.
- Ability to operate power tools such as trimmers, blowers, excavators, and snow plows safely and effectively.
- Knowledge of safety protocol adherence in outdoor work environments involving heavy machinery and chemical use.
- Prior outdoor work experience with a focus on grounds maintenance or landscaping projects.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects including tree care, lawn care, hardscape installation, and seasonal snow removal efforts.
