Position Overview
The Valley Club of Montecito is seeking a motivated, service-oriented, and team-focused Assistant Golf Professional to join our Golf Professional staff. This individual will play an integral role in providing an exceptional golf experience for our members and guests while supporting the day-to-day operations of the Golf Department.
The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic golf professional who enjoys working as part of a team, takes pride in delivering outstanding service, and has strong organizational and technology skills. A particular emphasis will be placed on tournament administration, Golf Genius, Clubessential POS, and golf merchandise operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Golf Professional and Golf Professional staff with daily golf operations and member services.
- Provide a welcoming, professional, and personalized experience for members and guests.
- Take an active role in the planning, organization, and execution of club tournaments, events, and outings.
- Manage tournament setup and administration through Golf Genius, including event creation, player registration, pairings, scoring, contests, communications, and results.
- Assist with tournament preparation, including tee sheets, scorecards, cart assignments, rules information, and event-day logistics.
- Utilize Clubessential POS for golf shop transactions, member accounts, inventory, reporting, and merchandise sales.
- Assist with the purchasing, merchandising, receiving, pricing, inventory control, and presentation of golf shop merchandise.
- Maintain an attractive, organized, and well-stocked golf shop.
- Assist members with golf equipment, apparel, accessories, and merchandise selections.
- Support daily tee sheet management, member bookings, guest arrangements, and pace-of-play initiatives.
- Assist with golf instruction, clinics, member events, and other programming as appropriate.
- Maintain a strong working knowledge of the club's golf facilities, policies, programs, and services.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional golf operation.
- Work collaboratively with golf staff, outside services, clubhouse departments, and club management.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the overall success of the Golf Department.

- Comfortable learning and utilizing technology and golf-management software.
- Experienced with or willing to become highly proficient in Golf Genius and Clubessential POS.
- Knowledgeable about golf merchandise, retail operations, and inventory management.
- Professional in appearance, communication, and conduct.
- Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, member-focused environment.
- Flexible and willing to assist wherever needed to ensure a successful golf operation.
Qualifications
- PGA Associate or PGA Member preferred.
- Previous experience in a golf professional or assistant professional role at a club of similar stature.
- Experience with Golf Genius tournament software strongly preferred.
- Experience with Clubessential POS or a comparable golf/club point-of-sale system preferred.
- Retail or golf shop merchandise experience preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings as required by the club's golf calendar.
