About the role

The Philadelphia Cricket Club has an opening for a multi-talented Outside Services Professional for a position starting the first quarter of 2027.  We can accommodate a person who wants to be in the area full-time (9/10 months) or someone who wishes to work seasonally (6/7 months) in conjunction with a Winter job in a warm weather location.  If the candidate prefers to further their career via off-season employment in a warm-weather location, we can help facilitate such opportunities given our relationships with a multitude of top 100 facilities.

We have a demonstrated record of helping staff further their careers – 40+ team members have moved to enhanced positions in the last 20 years.  Simply put, at PCC we believe happy employees will lead to happy members.  The team is led by PGA Director of Golf/COO Jim Smith Jr., the 2024 National Bill Strausbaugh Award recipient and the 49th member of the Philadelphia PGA Section Hall of Fame.

The successful candidate can be a PGA member/apprentice or a career-oriented individual as we are a progressive and supportive employer to either. This is an ideal position for someone seeking to establish contacts and experience at a top 100 club with a large and active golf operation, If a PGA member/apprentice, working on our OS team for a year or two typically is the steppingstone to joining our golf shop staff.

The candidate selected will exhibit a ‘Just Do It’ attitude; be willing to do whatever it takes to contribute to the success of the facility; have a caring and friendly demeanor; be prepared to exceed member expectations with regard to service and commitment; will have proven interpersonal skills; and, most importantly, will be a self-motivated individual who is highly personable and is willing to do what it takes to make members and guests happy.

The successful candidate will work approximately 30-50 hours/week (depending on time of year) and will be expected to be on property as needed (special events) to get the job done. The candidate will be encouraged to play golf and/or travel with members; participate in tournaments (both individual & pro-ams); help manage and administer a large caddy program; and more.

In addition to hours described above, the candidate will also work approximately 10-15 Monday outings and will be provided significant additional play for such work.

The successful candidate will join a team that includes 9 other career-oriented Outside Services Professionals, supplemented by 3 PGA interns each Summer.  Our model includes set schedules (as opposed to being told your schedule a week or two ahead of time) and team members enjoy complete freedom to switch shifts to accommodate personal schedules, a key to achieving proper work-life balance.

Benefits for the position include salary of $1200/week; medical/dental benefits; access to both golf courses and all practice facilities; employee meal plan; clothing allowance; fees/dues/travel allowance; outing bonuses; tips and more. Additionally, persons with caddie experience may caddie on their off days to make additional money.

Off-season opportunities to earn significant income are available via an established work program with the membership. The total compensation for this position should range between $6000 & $8000 per month, depending on the candidate. Keep in mind that the cost of living in Philadelphia is 25%-50% lower than comparable cities like New York, Boston, DC, etc.

This position is scheduled for 3 days per week from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and 3.5 days a week on the shoulder seasons.  It is ideal for someone to have balance in their lives (a hot topic these days, but something we’ve been doing for decades).

Resumes for the position will be accepted until the position is filled.
