Grounds Crew Worker

Battenkill Country Club, a scenic 9-hole private golf course set along the Batten Kill River in Greenwich, NY, is seeking a motivated Grounds Crew Worker to join our maintenance team. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build hands-on turf and equipment experience on a tight-knit crew.
Position Overview
Working under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent, the Grounds Crew Worker performs daily maintenance tasks to keep the course in top playing condition, including mowing, irrigation upkeep, bunker maintenance, and general property care.
Responsibilities
Operate mowing equipment on greens, tees, fairways, and rough
Rake and maintain bunkers
Assist with hand watering, syringing, and irrigation system checks
Change cups and move tee markers daily
Perform routine equipment cleaning and basic maintenance
Assist with fertilizer and pesticide applications (training provided)
Maintain course accessories: benches, ball washers, signage, trash receptacles
Support special projects such as aerification, topdressing, and drainage work
Perform general grounds upkeep, including trimming, blowing, and debris removal
Follow all safety protocols when operating equipment or handling chemicals
Qualifications
Prior landscaping, groundskeeping, or golf course experience a plus, but not required
Willingness to learn and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Reliable, punctual, and able to work early morning hours
Ability to work both independently and as part of a small team
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor for extended periods
Valid driver’s license preferred
Schedule & Weekend Expectations
Full-time and seasonal positions available
Early morning start times required — course maintenance typically begins at or before sunrise
Weekend work is a required and regular part of this position, not occasional. Golf courses are busiest on Saturdays and Sundays, and grounds crew coverage is essential every weekend during the season.
Applicants must be able to work most Saturdays and Sundays throughout the golf season; this is a core job requirement, not an occasional ask
Holiday availability is also required during the season (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, etc.)
Days off during the week are typically scheduled to offset weekend shifts
Compensation
Starting at $18/hour, based on experience.
