Calusa Country Club, located in Bradenton, FL, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for a Full-Time Assistant Superintendent! We are seeking a motivated individual who is interested in contributing to a positive experience for our members and guests while continuing to grow their knowledge of golf club operations. General Purpose
Responsible for managing all agronomic procedures for our 12-hole course. The candidate will report directly to the Director of Agronomy and work closely with other assistants and equipment managers. The candidate will manage a staff of 14 people which includes a 2nd assistant and a chemical technician.
Essential Duties
Work with the Superintendent to ensure that the annual golf course maintenance budget and capital plans are maintained and followedSupervise and assist maintenance staff in daily dutiesAssist in the planning, organizing, and direction of the maintenance and construction of putting greens, tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkersSupervise the planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turf grasses, trees, and ornamental plantsEnsure that construction equipment is properly maintainedAssist in the procurement of supplies and materials and ensure costs remain within budgetary limitationsKeep records of annual maintenance activities and costs and assist with the preparation of required reportsFollow sound purchasing procedures utilizing preferred vendors when possibleReconcile and provide timely coding of all invoices, payroll, and other required documentsCoordinate snow removal (depending upon facility location)Ensure all company policies and procedures are followed including compliance with government regulationsEnsure associates obtain proper licenses needed to perform job tasks safely and within city, state, and federal regulations; address all real or perceived environmental concerns directlyManage department members that may include, but are not limited to: Mechanic, Environmental Technician, Equipment Operator, Foreman, Greenskeeper, and Irrigation TechnicianEnsure that effective orientation and training are given to each new associate; develop ongoing training programsMonitor business volume forecast and plan accordingly in areas of manpower, productivity, costs, and other expensesRegular and reliable attendanceIncorporate safe work practices in job performance
Education & Experience
Bachelor's or associate's degree from a two or four-year college or technical school; three to four years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (degree preference in agronomy, horticulture, or plant/soil science)
Physical Demands
Regularly stands, walks, and sits. Regularly uses hands, reaches with arms and hands, and talks or hears. Occasionally climbs, balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, crawls, tastes, or smells. Regularly lifts up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
Work Environment
Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, fumes, and/or airborne particles. Frequently works in outdoor weather conditions. Noise level is moderate.
