Equipment Manager – Wapika Ranch
Location: Pinedale, Wyoming | Wapika Ranch on the Green River
Position: Equipment Manager (Full-Time, Year-Round)

Position Overview
Wapika Ranch, an exclusive, private family-owned retreat and fully operational working cattle ranch featuring an 18-hole golf course and premier equestrian facilities, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Equipment Manager . Situated along the upper Green River at an elevation of 6,925 feet, this unique property blends a pristine natural wetland habitat with world-class amenities, serving the ownership, family, and select guests with approximately 300 rounds played annually.
Working under the leadership of the Director of Facilities & Maintenance and the Golf Course Superintendent, the Equipment Manager will oversee a diverse, modern fleet of golf course turf technology, agricultural machinery, and utility equipment. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring exceptional mechanical diagnostic skills, fabrication expertise, administrative organization, and a commitment to maintaining equipment to tournament-ready standards.
Property & Fleet Profile
- Golf Course: Par 73, 7,200-yard 18-hole private golf course (including 9 established holes and 9 newly constructed holes currently in the grow-in phase). The turf fleet includes a growing integration of cutting-edge commercial autonomous/robotic mowing units.
- Ranch Operations: A fully operational cattle ranch utilizing a variety of utility vehicles, heavy equipment, and agricultural implements.
- Equestrian Facilities: A high-capacity horse riding and breeding operation supported by dedicated utility equipment and tractors.
Key Responsibilities
Fleet Maintenance & Quality of Cut
- Oversee the preventative maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of a diverse fleet including specialized turf equipment (greens, tees, fairways, and rough mowers), sprayers, aerators, agricultural tractors, balers, ATVs/UTVs, heavy equipment, and backup generators.
- Maintain a high standard in "quality of cut" across all turf equipment, executing precision reel grinding, bedknife sharpening, height-of-cut adjustments, and proper setup for daily course operations.
- Service and maintain the ownership's auxiliary fleet, including light trucks, trailers, marine equipment/boats, and recreational vehicles.
Shop Management & Leadership
- Maintain a highly organized, clean, safe, and efficient maintenance facility, ensuring compliance with OSHA and safety regulations.
- Direct, mentor, and schedule daily tasks for the Assistant Equipment Manager.
- Train seasonal and full-time staff on safe equipment operation, daily pre-start checks, and proper washing/cleaning protocols.
Administrative & Budgetary Operations
- Establish and execute a rigorous preventative maintenance schedule for all assets.
- Track equipment history, service records, and parts inventory using fleet management software.
- Assist the Director and Superintendent in capital equipment replacement scheduling, parts procurement, vendor relations, and annual budget forecasting.
Property Collaboration
- Assist with broader golf course maintenance operations, special projects, and weekend morning duty rotations as required.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: 5+ years of professional mechanical experience, preferably within the golf course turf industry or high-end agricultural/fleet management.
- Technical Skills: Mastery of internal combustion engines (gasoline, diesel, and 2-cycle), advanced hydraulic systems, complex electrical/diagnostic systems, and proficiency in welding and custom fabrication.
- Reel Theory: Strong working knowledge of reel-to-bedknife geometry and precision grinding equipment is highly preferred.
- Attributes: Exceptional organizational skills, strong communication, self-motivation, and an eye for detail.
- Licensing: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
- Availability: Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including occasional weekends, holidays, and overtime during peak operational seasons.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $80,000– $100,000 annually, negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
- Professional Development: Paid dues for the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) or local chapters, and continuing education/seminar attendance.
