About the role

Mariners Landing Country Club is a 1,000-acre resort community on the shores of Smith Mountain Lake. We are looking for dependable, hardworking individuals to join our Golf Course Grounds Team.

Our team is responsible for preparing and maintaining the golf course each day, including greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, practice areas, landscaping, and other areas throughout the property.

This is not just a mowing job.

We are looking for experienced grounds professionals who can contribute from day one. This position is best suited for someone who already has experience working on a golf course maintenance crew, professional landscaping crew, or similar grounds maintenance operation.

Due to the demands of our operation, employees should already understand outdoor maintenance work, equipment operation, safety, teamwork, and completing assignments efficiently with strong attention to detail. We train employees on our specific equipment, procedures, and standards, but this is not an introductory position for someone with no previous experience.

A Typical Day on the Golf Course

Golf course maintenance starts early, with most morning work completed before golfers move through the course. Employees must remain aware of play, work safely, and minimize unnecessary disruption to golfers.

Daily assignments may include:

Mowing greens, tees, fairways, approaches, or rough. Changing hole locations and moving tee markers. Raking and maintaining bunkers. Blowing cart paths and playing surfaces. String trimming and edging. Preparing practice areas. Removing leaves and debris. Assisting with irrigation, landscaping, drainage, and course improvement projects. Cleaning and properly returning equipment after use.

Employees are expected to work efficiently, pay attention to detail, and communicate with supervisors when assignments are complete or problems arise.

What We Look for in Our Team

Successful team members are expected to: Show up on time and ready to work. Understand the pace and expectations of a high-level golf course grounds crew. Work efficiently while maintaining quality. Take pride in their work and pay attention to small details. Follow instructions and accept feedback. Work independently once an assignment has been explained. Take care of equipment and facilities. Communicate mechanical problems, damage, or unusual conditions. Help teammates when their own assignment is complete. Look for the next task. Continue learning and improving their Skills

We do not expect every new employee to know our property or every piece of golf course maintenance equipment on their first day.

We do expect employees to arrive with a solid foundation of professional grounds maintenance experience and the ability to quickly learn our standards.
