Oakland County Parks and Recreation is seeking dependable and hardworking Golf Course Grounds Workers to help maintain Springfield Oaks Golf Course. In this hands-on role, you'll work alongside an experienced grounds team to keep the course in outstanding condition while helping create an exceptional experience for golfers and park visitors. Responsibilities
Assist with the daily maintenance and upkeep of Springfield Oaks Golf Course, grounds, and surrounding park facilitiesOperate groundskeeping equipment, including mowers, tractors, trimmers, blowers, rakes, and other landscaping toolsPerform mowing, trimming, raking, landscaping, and general grounds maintenance to keep the course in excellent conditionSet up, move, and maintain park and recreation equipment as neededFollow established safety procedures while utilizing County technology and department software to complete daily responsibilitiesPerform golf course mowing using power equipment, bunker maintenance, trash removal, tree maintenance including planting, pruning and line trimming, and custodial services in restrooms and public areas.May assist with cart staging and cleaning when other staff are not available.May assist with repair and installation of irrigation equipment on golf courses or start up and shut down of golf course irrigation systems on a yearly basis.Supports recreational program such as special events, campground activities and mobile recreation, including the transportation, set up, maintenance and supervision of inflatables, climbing towers, and retro games activities.Interacts with park visitors of all ages.Communicates with staff, volunteers, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.Answers public inquiries regarding other County parks.Performs the duties of part-time seasonal employees in various classes when necessary.Requirements
Must have passed their 18th birthday OR be at least 16 years old and a high school graduate or the State requirements for a G.E.D. certificate; OR be an emancipated minor.Possess a valid United States motor vehicle operator’s or chauffeur’s license.Out of country driver’s license holders will be required to obtain the appropriate valid State of Michigan driver’s license before the hire date.Pass the complete examination, including the employment medical, established for this classification.Must maintain a valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur’s license.Ability to communicate to accurately convey information.Ability to operate equipment as assigned to complete work duties including but not limited to computers, phones, hand tools, power tools such as weedwhips, blowers, snow throwers, motorized grounds keeping tractors and ride on mowers, golf carts, or other maintenance vehicles.Nice-to-haves
