Position: Assistant Superintendent (Secondary) This is an opportunity for an individual who is just beginning their Turfgrass/Golf Course Management career and would like to build a solid foundation to grow within the industry. We strive to educate and display techniques used to maintain Turfgrass in the harsh Desert Southwest. Candidates will gain knowledge and experience on in-house renovation projects, and will be extremely hands-on with irrigation repairs, planning, and timing.This opportunity became available due to the current position holder moving into their first Golf Course Superintendent role.Position Overview:The Assistant Superintendent (Secondary) will work directly with the Golf Course Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent (Primary) on the day-to-day operations of the golf course maintenance team. This position will train and supervise the crew, manage golf course conditions, and be a key member of the agronomy management team.Essential Functions:Support the Superintendent in managing all aspects of the golf coursePerform calibration and application of pesticides and fertilizersOperate and troubleshoot the course irrigation systemAssist in managing employees, including scheduling and supervising safe equipment usage, in the Superintendent’s absenceApply cultural practices to greens, tees, and fairwaysImplement agronomic best practices for course optimizationSupport overall maintenance plans for the golf courseKeep detailed records of course management history and future plansScout and manage turf pestsAssist with equipment upkeep and repairsTrack growing degree days, clipping volumes, and weather models through the growing seasonMonitor and manage moisture levels in areas of playOther duties as assigned by the supervisor or needs of the clubPlease note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
