About the Role
- Manages the daily operation of the Winstar 36-hole resort golf course, which entails the VIP course and the Resort course. This also includes overseeing 210 acres of maintained turf and over 2 million dollars’ worth of equipment.
- Manages the daily schedules and monitors the performance of 60 golf course employees.
- Oversees the management of the construction, renovation, and/or reconstruction of the golf course through maintenance staff or outside contractors.
- Administer and prepare the annual budgets for the maintenance and capital improvement of the 36-hole resort to present to the owner.
- Manages all maintenance and project work through experienced agronomic and administrative expertise to achieve the agreed-upon maintenance standards and long-range goals established for the Winstar golf course set forth by the owner.
- Oversees the scheduling and routing of personnel and equipment to accomplish the work.
- Frequently inspects the 36-hole golf course facility and related areas to evaluate how well management standards are being achieved and to effect changes in management programs that are set forth by the owner.
- Presents all expenditures and exercises cost control measures to keep, as nearly as possible, operating and capital expenses in line with the approved budgets as approved by the manager.
- Responsible for financial management and development of annual operations budget and capital budget. This includes monthly/quarterly forecasting of actual expenses versus budget and reporting to Owners.
- Supervise the efficient operation of an equipment service and repair shop.
- Supervise the planting and cultural practices involved in growing various turfgrasses and trees.
- Supervise the development and maintenance of drainage, irrigation, pumping, and water reservoir systems.
- Manages an inventory of and supervises the proper use of pesticides and chemicals.
- Prepares the approved pesticide list for Chickasaw Environmental.
- Track and purchase equipment and tools needed to maintain the 36-hole facility. Monitor the purchase ordering and receiving program to maintain proper inventories of supplies and ensure proper quantity and price on all purchases.
- Keeps accurate and complete records on inventory, weather data, maintenance procedures, MSDS, pesticide applications, etc.
- Communicates regularly with PGA manager and golf professionals to discuss activities, goals, plans, and member/customer input.
- Ultimately responsible for ensuring the highest quality course conditions at all times.
- Works with the Chickasaw environmental group to ensure the golf property is utilizing best management practices for the environment.
- Manages environmental projects towards working with Audoban society to become a certified environmental sanctuary and maintain that status.
- Administer water reports for the Chickasaw tribal utility authority on water usage and water condition.
- Supervise equipment maintenance and repair operations. Establish and implement a cleaning and preventative maintenance program for appropriate equipment, tools, vehicles, etc.
- Ensure maintenance of all appropriate quality and cleanliness standards, equipment repair areas, equipment storage areas, chemical and fertilizer storage areas, receiving areas, washing areas, lunchroom areas, restrooms, etc.
- Oversee the management, development, discipline, and performance of direct and non-direct staff.
- Ensures that the safety and proper function of the equipment and maintenance facility are always beyond desired standards and requirements.
- Develops emergency and safety procedures.
- Attends conferences, workshops, and meetings to keep up on current agronomic information and developments in the profession.
- Maintain knowledge of current and projected industry developments through continuous attention to industry periodicals and participation in relevant trade associations and organizations.
- Manages the preparation of the resort for the World Long Drive competition.
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise superintendents/assistant superintendents and assist in recruiting, hiring, and training staff.
- Conducts regularly scheduled staff meetings.
- Maintain constant communication with Proshop staff and keep them aware of all course maintenance functions.
- Coordinates with golf professionals on daily course expectations.
- Works with vendors and outside consultants on providing the best price and quality products for the golf resort, and implements recommendations.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Training and Experience:
- Ten (10) years of full-time management or equivalent work experience in golf grounds management or other relevant experience.
