About the position
Positions in this job family are assigned responsibilities involving the management, supervision, or assisting in the management of golf course grounds and maintenance. This includes support for turf management operations, landscaping, facility upkeep, and the execution of seasonal and long-term maintenance programs to ensure the course meets quality standards.
Responsibilities
Assists in managing and maintaining golf course property, including turf, landscaping, irrigation systems, and clubhouse grounds.Maintains open communication with the golf course and park operations team regarding activities and scheduling.Coordinates the daily maintenance operations with appropriate staff.Inspects the golf course and associated facilities, reports any issue and/or recommends improvements, and may perform play-through evaluations to assess course conditions.Assists in planning and execution of maintenance and project work based on agronomic principles.Supports turf and landscape care, diagnoses and treats turf and plant health issues, and supports pest management efforts.Supervises and trains assigned staff which may include pro-shop personnel, maintenance staff, or groundskeeping staff and seasonal workers, including training and scheduling.Ensures safe operation of equipment and tools by team members.Manages or assists in the management of inventories of materials and supplies and purchasing or recommending purchases within budget guidelines.Maintains documentation and records relevant to course upkeep, staffing, and supply usage.Supervises assigned staff.Performs other duties as assigned.Requirements
Knowledge of turf grass managementKnowledge of landscaping techniquesKnowledge of irrigation systemsKnowledge of chemical applicationKnowledge of plant disease identificationAbility to supervise staffAbility to maintain detailed recordsAbility to manage supplies and equipmentAbility to apply safe chemical practicesAbility to communicate effectivelyAbility to follow oral and written instructionsThree (3) years of experience in grounds maintenance, golf course maintenance, or related landscaping work; OR an associate degree in horticulture, turf management, landscaping, or a related field and one (1) year of relevant experience.Must possess a valid Oklahoma Chemical Applicators License within one (1) year of appointment.Must possess a valid Oklahoma driver’s license at the time of appointment.May be required to work irregular hours, including weekends and holidays.
