Location: New Buffalo OverviewThe Woodlands Course at Whittaker is an 18-hole daily fee, public golf facility designed through the wetlands of New Buffalo, MI. The Woodlands Course at Whittaker supports the upper tier of the hospitality market within Michiana and the surrounding area along with the local golf market in New Buffalo. The Club has successful relationships and partnerships with the local casino and hotels.The Club offers an 18-hole championship golf course with bent grass tees, fairways, and greens along with blue grass/fescue rough and surrounds. The Club has a grass tee, full length practice facility with a short game facility along with a dedicated putting green and a dedicated chipping green for the golf course.The Clubhouse setting features a fully merchandised Pro Shop, indoor bar and restaurant with an outside patio overlooking the 18 th green. The Clubhouse setting also features private dining and corporate meeting space. Proficient in other applications, i.e. email, internet, tournament, and databaseMaintain and promote a positive professional image within the communityEssential ResponsibilitiesFull Golf Operations ManagementRecruit, hire, train, motivate, and supervise and lead all golf department staffOversee and manage the tee time reservation system on a daily basisOversee and manage the starting of play and monitoring the pace of playOversee and manage the golf car fleet while ensuring proper maintenance, cleaning, and record keepingOversee and manage the operations of the practice facilityOversee and manage retail operation in the pro shop in step with the mission of the facilityOversee and manage the retail buying plans and all golf related purchasingArrange 'Demo Days' with vendors to provide opportunities for members to test new productsSupervise physical inventory counts on a timely basisPresent a diverse and desirable array of golf equipment, apparel, and accessoriesIs visible and present at all golf events, leagues, and various social events, and understands that summers demand high hours and lower in the winter monthsEnsure the proper storage, safety, and cleaning of golf equipmentDevelop, maintain, and update the customer databasePromote golf related sales and activities by utilizing the customer databaseAssist with the marketing of the entire facility with golf department supportMeet with the golf course superintendent as needed regarding playability and course conditioning issuesSupport the golf course superintendent as needed to ensure proper agronomic practicesUpdate and maintain golf shop policies and procedures and job descriptions and ensure they are adhered to and posted in the proper areasMaintain safety standards and safety equipment within OSHA requirementsAssist in the preparation of the club's annual golf budget and financialsBenefitsBase salary of $70,000 to $90,000Year round employment (Michigan is an at-will employment state)Vacation, Medical insuranceAnnual PGA DuesPlaying privileges
