Position Summary We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented individual to join our golf course maintenance team as a Spray Technician / Assistant Superintendent in Training. This position is designed for someone with experience in lawn care, landscaping, turfgrass management, or golf course maintenance who is interested in building a long-term career in golf course agronomy. The successful candidate will primarily serve as the golf course Spray Technician, responsible for the safe, accurate, and efficient application of pesticides, fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, plant growth regulators, and other turf health products. In addition, this individual will receive hands-on training in all aspects of golf course management, preparing them for future advancement into an Assistant Superintendent role. Under the direction of the Director of Agronomy and Golf Course Superintendent, this position provides an opportunity to develop technical, leadership, and management skills while contributing to the success of the golf course maintenance operation. Essential Responsibilities Spray Technician Responsibilities - Safely and accurately apply pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, fertilizers, plant growth regulators, and other turf health products in accordance with product labels, environmental regulations, and company policies. - Maintain complete and accurate records of all chemical applications. - Properly mix, handle, store, and dispose of chemicals in accordance with all safety and regulatory requirements. - Maintain clean, organized, and compliant chemical storage, mixing, and loading areas. - Perform routine calibration, inspection, cleaning, and maintenance of spray equipment to ensure accurate applications. - Monitor turf conditions and identify weeds, insects, diseases, nutrient deficiencies, and other issues. - Communicate turf observations and recommendations to the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents. - Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), in accordance with company policies and OSHA standards. Assistant Superintendent Training Responsibilities - Learn and assist with all aspects of golf course maintenance, including mowing, irrigation, fertility programs, cultural practices, and course setup. - Assist in daily planning and execution of golf course maintenance operations. - Develop knowledge of agronomic practices, budgeting, scheduling, recordkeeping, and staff management. - Assist with irrigation troubleshooting, repairs, and system maintenance. - Participate in tournament preparation and special projects. - Develop leadership skills through mentorship and hands-on experience. - Assist with training and directing team members as experience and knowledge develop. - Perform general golf course maintenance duties as needed to support the maintenance team. Compensation $24-27 per hour, depending on experience (DOE).
