About the Role
Summary:
The Summer Camp Counselor team is responsible for providing a fun and safe environment, looking after the well-being of campers, and adhering to the Camp CCC Schedule. Prepares, leads, and supervises play and activities that provide appropriate social interactions. In addition, Summer Camp Counselors will maintain a high level of customer service, professionalism, creativity, and organizational skills throughout each day of camp. Complies with all health and safety procedures, including pool safety.
Hours:
• Seasonal role – ranging from mid-May – early August.
• Operational Monday-Thursday.
• Must be available 20-30 hours a week
Expectations:
• Flexible with scheduling while accommodating Summer Camp needs.
• Team-player who ensures quality service and a positive camp environment.
• Adhere to all club property rules.
• Establish and maintain great relationships with the CCC Campers and their parents.
• Convey a professional image through a positive attitude and proper attire.
• Assist other departments when necessary, including youth events. family events, and club child watch.
Essential Functions:
• Knowledge of club policies and procedures as it refers to the Youth department.
• Understands knowledge of all safety and first aid protocol procedures, and proactive in preventing accidents.
• Assists in planning age-appropriate activities and events for children and families.
• Greets children and parents by name in a professional and friendly manner.
• Communication with parents about drop-off and pick-up regarding needs and preferences specific to their children.
• Interacts with children in a friendly manner by playing games, teaching skills, etc.
• Assists with set-up of all camp activities, including lunch.
• Handles and properly cares for all camp and childcare center materials, with proper storage after use.
• Leads and supervises play and activities during camp.
• Ensure camper’s safety while moving about club property.
• Assists with bathroom monitoring, meals, and snacks.
• Recommends new ideas for toys, programs, supplies and promotions.
• Completes opening and closing duties to ensure a clean and safe work area in the childcare center.
• Resolves disputes between children when necessary.
• Disciplines by using verbal redirection, physical removal, and time out as appropriate.
• Practices good judgement by informing immediate supervisors of any unforeseen circumstances and reacts appropriately.
• Maintains a safe and clean environment.
• Exhibits proper phone etiquette.
• Attend all department staff meetings and trainings.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Youth Activities Director and Summer Camp Director.
Qualifications & Requirements:
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid First Aid and Infant/Child CPR Certifications or the ability to become certified prior to the beginning of camp.
• Six months experience working with groups of children ages 6-months – 12 years.
• Ability to communicate effectively, fluent in English.
• Ability to work outside during the hot summer season.
• Ability to provide basic hygiene services for young children.
• Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment, while supervising children.
• Must have a positive, upbeat, friendly attitude and enjoy providing five-star customer service.
• Must be a team player who can develop strong and positive working relationships with all staff.
Physical Requirements:
• Must be able to climb stairs.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. daily.
• Constantly walks and stands, reaches, bends, lifts, carries, and stoops.
• Frequently washes hands.
• Must be able to swim.
