About the Role
Beachwood Golf Club is seeking a skilled individual to join our team as the Equipment Manager / Golf Course Mechanic. This individual will work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent to coordinate the equipment needs meeting the expectations set by the club. Strong mechanical skills, attention to detail, cleanliness and knowledge of turf management practices are essential for success in this position.
*Experience Requirements**
Proven experience as an Equipment Manager / Golf Course Mechanic is preferred.
Expertise with reel mowers and equipment from Toro, John Deere, Club Car, and Kubota.
High-quality reel mower set up and quality of cut is a priority.
Strong understanding of engines, hydraulics, pumps, and electronics.
Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in varied weather conditions.
Keeps accurate, complete and timely records of repair work performed.
Knowledge of OSHA safety guidelines.
Valid driver’s license.
Maintains a preventative maintenance program within budget on all equipment, and purchases repair parts and replacement supplies.
Keeps a complete set of records for equipment and parts inventory purchases, and equipment conditions, costs of repairs and preventative maintenance for all equipment.
Ability to perform some machining or welding work for course equipment/projects/etc.
Spot checks equipment for performance on the course, makes emergency repairs to equipment on the course, and services or supervises servicing of equipment prior to use.
Oversee the daily operation of maintaining a clean, safe service area and maintenance building.
Teach, train, assist supervise, coach, counsel, schedule and evaluate Turf Care staff concerning the safe and effective operation of equipment.
Ability to work proactively relative to equipment maintenance and repairs to minimize equipment downtime and loss of staff productivity
Prioritize equipment repair and maintenance work relative to golf course operations
*Responsibilities - include troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of equipment, including mowing equipment, tractors, power tools, hand tools, and other landscaping / golf course equipment. Maintaining a preventative maintenance program on all equipment, purchases repair parts and replacement supplies. Place orders for parts/supplies as needed for equipment or service and tracks expenses and inventories for budget. Train all employees in proper operation and maintenance of machinery/vehicles. Incorporate safe work practices in job performance. Perform other duties as assigned by Golf Course Superintendent.Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on all golf course machinery, including mowers, greens rollers, aerators, and utility vehiclesDiagnose mechanical issues followed then execute repairs efficientlyMaintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory to ensure equipment longevity and complianceTroubleshoot electrical systems within equipment, utilizing tools like ohmmeters to identify faults accuratelyConduct safety checks on all machinery before use to promote a safe working environment for staff and playersCollaborate with groundskeeping staff to schedule maintenance during off-peak hours and minimize disruptions on the courseKeep work areas clean, organized, and stocked with necessary parts and tools for quick turnaround on repairs*QualificationsProven experience in mechanical repair and maintenance, preferably with golf course or outdoor power equipmentStrong understanding of electrical systems and troubleshooting techniques, including proficiency with ohmmetersAbility to read technical manuals, schematics, and repair guides effectivelyExcellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to diagnosing issuesAbility to work independently while managing multiple tasks in a fast-paced outdoor environmentValid driver’s license and the physical ability to lift heavy equipment or parts as neededPrior experience working with electrical diagnostics or similar technical tools is highly desirable
