HomeDepartmentsHuman ResourcesEmployment OpportunitiesSeasonal Parks & Golf Course Maintenance Position Title: Seasonal Parks & Golf Course Maintenance Department: Parks Department Schedule: Varies Pay: $11.50/hour Status: Part-Time FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Position Summary The Seasonal Parks & Golf Course Maintenance position supports the City of Terre Haute’s Parks and Golf Course operations by assisting with routine maintenance, upkeep, and improvement of City parks and golf course facilities. This role contributes to safe, clean, and welcoming outdoor spaces for residents and visitors through grounds maintenance, facility preparation, and general operational support. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Assist with routine maintenance and upkeep of City parks and golf course grounds.Plant, maintain, and care for trees, flowers, and landscaped areas.Mow, trim, edge, and maintain turf areas.Perform renovation and improvement tasks as directed.Operate hand tools, power tools, and light machinery, including mowers, weed eaters, and blowers.Assist with basic mechanical and maintenance tasks as needed.Collect trash and debris to maintain clean and safe facilities.Prepare and paint park and golf course facilities as assigned.Provide courteous and professional customer service to the public and coworkers.Report to work on time and maintain dependable attendance.Other duties as assigned. Job Requirements & Skills Basic understanding of general maintenance practices.Ability to operate lawn care equipment and light machinery safely.Basic knowledge of light construction, plumbing, electrical, and general building repair.Ability to problem-solve and follow instructions.Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.Ability to interact positively with coworkers and the public. Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent.Prior experience operating lawn and grounds maintenance equipment. Physical Effort & Work Environment Work is performed in indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to extreme heat and cold. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Ability to push, pull, carry, and lift a minimum of 40 pounds. Ability to see, hear, read, and perform tasks requiring hand and arm movement.
