About the Role
Jr. Sous Chef
Boulder Country Club is seeking a driven and talented Jr. Sous Chef to join our culinary leadership team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional who thrives in a high-volume, a la carte environment and is passionate about food quality, team development, and operational excellence.
Compensation
• $58,000 annually, commensurate with experience
• Quarterly performance-based bonus opportunities
Position Summary
The Jr. Sous Chef plays a key role in daily kitchen operations, supporting the Executive Chef and Sous Chef team in delivering exceptional dining experiences. This position is responsible for maintaining high culinary standards, ensuring food safety compliance, and leading by example through hands-on execution and team mentorship.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead by example in food preparation, presentation, and execution in a high-volume kitchen
• Train and coach team members on food safety standards, sanitation practices, and proper equipment use
• Ensure consistent adherence to recipes, portioning, and quality standards
• Maintain a strong sense of urgency while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Support hiring, onboarding, and ongoing development of kitchen staff
• Assist with inventory control, prep planning, and daily kitchen organization
• Maintain compliance with all health and safety regulations
Qualifications & Skills
• Minimum 1 year of kitchen leadership or supervisory experience preferred
• Proven experience in a high-volume, a la carte culinary environment (required)
• Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
• Ability to follow and execute recipes with consistency and precision
• Effective leadership, communication, and team-building skills
• Positive attitude with a strong work ethic and attention to detail
• Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred
Certifications:
• ServSafe Certification (or equivalent) required
Schedule Requirements
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and summer holidays is required
Physical Requirements
• Frequent exposure to heat, wet, and slippery conditions
• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs and perform occasional bending
