Position Summary:
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) role at Meadowbrook Country Club is a high-profile executive position. Serving as the "Right-Hand Leader" to the GM/COO, the AGM is responsible for overseeing front-of-house operations including Food & Beverage, reception, aquatics, racquets, and locker room services. This role demands a visible, hands-on leader who embodies professionalism and operational excellence. The AGM ensures an elevated, consistent, and engaging member and staff experience across all areas of responsibility.
The AGM reports directly to the GM/COO and is a critical member of the Senior Leadership Team. This role includes managing several department heads such as the Food & Beverage Manager, Beverage Manager, Head Receptionist, Aquatics Director, Director of Racquets, and Men's & Women's Locker Room Managers.
This opportunity is ideal for a dedicated hospitality leader who wants to be instrumental in steering one of Michigan's most respected private clubs. The AGM will work closely with the GM/COO and gain exposure to club governance through involvement with club committees and the Board of Directors. This position commands a strong focus on staff development, member satisfaction, operational efficiency, and business management. The compensation package includes a competitive base salary ranging from $110,000 to $140,000 based on experience, an annual performance-based bonus, industry membership dues, continuing education allowances, and a comprehensive benefits package inclusive of health insurance and 401(k) participation.
Meadowbrook Country Club boasts over 680 total members, including 325 Class A Golf Members and 125 Social Members with waiting lists. The club generates $12.8 million in total revenue, with $3.9 million from food and beverage services. It hosts 25,000 rounds of golf annually, maintaining an active and engaged membership averaging 51 years of age. The Club offers three distinct a la carte dining rooms, multiple bars and patios, a pool café, a halfway house, and a newly built golf performance center equipped with a full bar and lounge. Additional amenities include a ballroom with a 350-person capacity, an extensive aquatics program with three pools and a kids swim team, plus a top-tier racquets program featuring new courts for tennis, pickleball, and a dedicated Tennis Pro-Shop.
The Assistant General Manager will be a proactive leader, visible and approachable to members and staff alike. Responsibilities include setting performance expectations, participating in leadership meetings, supporting staff development through coaching and training, overseeing daily operations to ensure service excellence, managing staffing and scheduling, coordinating with culinary and facilities teams, enhancing member experiences, and maintaining financial and operational controls. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
