2nd Assistant Golf Maintenance Full Time, Non-ExemptHiring Range is $46,184 to $53,183 annually based on qualifications, education and experience as it relates to the position.Position Summary:Under the supervision of the Golf Course Superintendent, this position is responsible for directing and participating in the daily maintenance of the golf course including: irrigation troubleshooting, repair, and operation, fertilizer spraying and calibration, equipment operation, chemical application and knowledge of central control systems including freedom commands. Supervises part-time personnel and section leader. This position is also responsible for golf course maintenance duties as well as general cleanliness and upkeep of the golf course. Performs duties in a manner consistent with the stated values of the organization.Essential Duties:Assists in planning, directing, and implementing the maintenance of golf course greens, tees, fairways, roughs and irrigation system to improve and maintain turf and playing conditions.Evaluates golf course conditions and reports course conditions to the golf course superintendent. Inspect turf to designate height and frequency of mowing; determine need for supplemental irrigation to sustain or increase growth.Performs daily and weekly planning for maintenance of the golf course.Instructs equipment operators in the safe operation and maintenance of all equipment.Participates in the operation and maintenance of pump stations, as well as the maintenance and operation of the irrigation and drainage systems.Applies fertilizers, herbicides, amendments, and chemicals, and maintains records as required.Performs general maintenance duties such as raking sand traps, mowing greens, tees, roughs and landscaped areas; repairing divots and surrounding areas; edging sand traps; moving cups and placing flags on greens; performing landscaping such as maintaining flower beds, hand trimming, and pulling weeds.Performs minor irrigation repairs in landscaped areas.Picks up and disposes of trash and other miscellaneous articles.Conducts training of personnel in techniques for safe and efficient operation of equipment, tools, machinery, work methods and chemical applications.Maintains, operates, and cares for assigned hand tools and equipment. Maintains and routinely inventories parts and materials used while performing maintenance duties.Exercises good judgment and proper safety precautions and practices at all times.Assists with activation of irrigation system at the beginning of the season and winterizes the system at the end of the season.Assists as needed with the installation of new irrigation systems and the extension of existing systems.Keeps accurate records of daily activities and provides lists of materials for cost tracking. Responsible for providing accurate information for preparing purchase orders.Develops and maintains professional relationships with District employees, vendors, various outside users’ groups and associations.May be required to fill in for absent employees, covering some or all duties to ensure operations continue smoothly.Responds tactfully, respectfully and in a timely manner to inquiries and problems in person, through email, phone, and mail by providing helpful information and explanations in-line with District policies and procedures.
