About the Role
The Assistant Golf Professional is an integral member of the Golf Operations team and is responsible for delivering an exceptional golf experience to the members and guests of The Amelia Island Club. This position assists in the daily management of golf operations, including golfer check-in, tee time management, tournament administration, merchandising, retail sales, and financial reconciliation, while ensuring the highest standards of service, professionalism, and hospitality. The Assistant Professional supervises the Cart Staff and Starter/Ranger teams, promotes pace of play, and helps maintain a welcoming, member-focused environment that reflects the Club's commitment to excellence.
The Assistant Golf Professional also actively supports member engagement through golf programming, tournaments, and instructional initiatives. Responsibilities include providing private instruction, conducting group clinics, and assisting with Golf Academy programming for golfers of all ages and abilities. The position also oversees professional club fitting and club repair services, including custom club fitting, loft and lie adjustments, regripping, shaft replacement, club assembly, and equipment consultation. The Assistant Professional works collaboratively with the Head Golf Professional and Director of Golf to enhance the overall member experience by positively impacting all aspects of the golf operation throughout each shift.
High school diploma or GED required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.Current apprentice or Class A member of the PGA of America, or eligible to enroll in the PGA Professional Program.Previous experience in a golf facility, pro shop, or customer service environment preferred.Knowledge of the Rules of Golf, golf operations, and tournament administration.Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.Ability to operate a point-of-sale (POS) system and basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office). Some experience in operating Golf Genius preferred.Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, mornings, and evenings.Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.Ability to stand, walk, and work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather conditions.Deliver exceptional service to members, guests, and visitors in accordance with private club standards.Manage daily golfer check-in, billing, and tee time operations.Supervise, train, and schedule Cart Staff and Starter/Ranger personnel.Assist with golf shop merchandising, inventory management, and retail sales.Conduct professional club fitting sessions and provide equipment recommendations to optimize member performance.Perform club repair services, including regripping, loft and lie adjustments, shaft replacement, club assembly, and general equipment maintenance.Support tournament administration, member events, and Golf Academy programming.Provide private golf instruction and lead or assist with group clinics for golfers of all ages and skill levels.Maintain accurate daily sales records, point-of-sale transactions, repair logs, and financial reconciliations.Ensure the Golf Shop, club repair area, and surrounding facilities are clean, organized, safe, and professionally maintained.Promote pace of play, course etiquette, and an exceptional member experience.Assist with all other golf operations and special projects as assigned by the Head Golf Professional or Director of Golf.
