Senior Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

Status: Full-Time | Exempt
Position SummaryThe Senior Assistant Golf Course Superintendent plays a key leadership role in maintaining exceptional playing conditions at Cowboys Golf Club. This position assists the Golf Course Superintendent in the planning, execution, and supervision of all golf course maintenance operations while leading the daily activities of the maintenance team. The Senior Assistant serves as the Superintendent's primary support and assumes departmental leadership in their absence.
The ideal candidate is a motivated turf professional with strong agronomic knowledge, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for delivering championship-quality playing conditions and an outstanding guest experience.
Essential ResponsibilitiesAssist the Golf Course Superintendent with all aspects of golf course maintenance and daily operations.Lead, train, supervise, and motivate the maintenance staff while promoting a culture of accountability, teamwork, and safety.Organize daily work assignments and ensure projects are completed efficiently and to the highest quality standards.Monitor and maintain exceptional conditions on greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers, and landscaped areas.Assist with irrigation scheduling, troubleshooting, repairs, and water management strategies.Calibrate and operate pesticide and fertilizer application equipment in accordance with all local, state, and federal regulations.Assist in planning and implementing fertility, disease, weed, and insect management programs.Perform daily course inspections and communicate maintenance priorities with the Superintendent.Maintain accurate records for pesticide applications, irrigation repairs, equipment use, and labor.Coordinate course setup to ensure consistent, tournament-quality conditions.Assist with employee onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance coaching.Ensure proper use and care of maintenance equipment and facilities.Participate in budget management by monitoring inventory, supplies, and material usage.Support course improvement projects, drainage work, renovations, and special events.Serve as acting Superintendent during absences or vacations.QualificationsAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field preferred.Minimum of 3 years of golf course maintenance experience, including leadership responsibilities.Texas Pesticide Applicator License (or ability to obtain within required timeframe).Strong knowledge of:Warm-season turfgrass managementIrrigation systems and water managementFertility and plant protectant programsEquipment operation and calibrationGolf course setup and tournament preparationExcellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.Ability to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and occasional overtime.Physical RequirementsAbility to lift 50 pounds regularly.Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.Ability to walk, bend, stand, climb, and operate maintenance equipment for extended periods.Preferred QualitiesPositive attitude with a strong work ethic.Desire to mentor and develop team members.High attention to detail and pride in course presentation.Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.Passion for continuous improvement and professional growth.Arcis Golf provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
