About the Role
Golf Course Equipment Technician / Mechanic
Cascades Country Club is seeking a skilled and dependable Golf Course Equipment Technician / Mechanic to join our Golf Course Maintenance team. This position is responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a large fleet of golf course maintenance equipment to ensure the course is presented at the highest level each day.
The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical knowledge, experience working with turf equipment, and the ability to perform reel grinding and sharpening to maintain precise cutting quality throughout the golf course.
Key Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of golf course maintenance equipment including:
John Deere fairway mowers
Greens mowers
Tee mowers
Rough mowers
Utility vehicles and small engine equipment
Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and mechanical components
Perform reel grinding, backlapping, and reel sharpening to maintain tournament-quality playing conditions
Set and adjust cutting heights and ensure mowing equipment is properly calibrated
Maintain preventive maintenance schedules to minimize equipment downtime
Operate welding, fabrication, soldering, and shop equipment safely and efficiently
Keep detailed records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and parts inventory
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe equipment maintenance facility
Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent and maintenance team to ensure equipment is operating at peak performance daily
Qualifications
Previous experience as a golf course mechanic, turf equipment technician, diesel mechanic, or heavy equipment mechanic preferred
Experience working with John Deere turf equipment strongly preferred
Knowledge of reel mower setup, grinding, and sharpening procedures
Strong understanding of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
Welding and fabrication experience preferred
Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues efficiently and independently
Ability to lift heavy parts and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
