About the Role
## Key Role Overview
The Head Golf Professional is responsible for promoting the game of golf and creating an exceptional experience for members and guests by overseeing pro-shop and golf operations, delivering high-quality instruction, and developing engaging programming. The role combines customer service, staff leadership, event management, and revenue-driving initiatives to enhance member satisfaction and club participation.
## What are the Key Responsibilities?
- Deliver efficient and friendly customer service across all areas of the pro-shop, ensuring a welcoming and professional experience for members and guests.
- Provide high-quality golf instruction to members and guests in accordance with Invited and PGA/LPGA standards.
- Develop and promote a variety of golf clinics, private lessons, and programs for adults, juniors, and seniors.
- Actively promote the game of golf and the club by maintaining a high standard of professionalism, service, and engagement.
- Build strong relationships with members by leading or participating in committees, hosting clinics, offering personalized lessons, and playing rounds with members/guests.
- Create and manage an annual golf calendar outlining activities and events designed to enhance the member experience.
- Establish and achieve sales and instruction goals while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Develop, implement, and oversee golf revenue strategies, marketing initiatives, and net revenue plans in line with budgeting guidelines.
- Supervise outside golf operations (marshals, starters, golf shop attendants) to ensure staff performance aligns with procedures and policies.
- Lead and oversee golf shop operations by training, motivating staff, and conducting regular staff meetings.
- Manage recruiting, hiring, performance evaluations, and development of golf operations staff.
- Plan, promote, and execute tournaments and special golf events, coordinating across departments (e.g., Food & Beverage).
- Oversee event promotion, scheduling, execution, and post-event wrap-up.
- Ensure staff are properly trained and consistently follow club guidelines and procedures, including closing business functions.
## What are the Required Qualifications?
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in golf operations and customer service.
- PGA or LPGA Professional Certification (mandatory).
## What are the Preferred Qualifications?
- A college degree in a related field.
- Proven experience with direct financial management and budget responsibilities.
- Proven ability to handle confidential company information and sensitive employee matters with discretion.
- Commitment to upholding high ethical work standards.
