Summary We are looking for a Greenskeeper to join the City of Charlestons Recreation Department In this role you will maintain grounds and turf of golf course in playing condition as directed by the Greens Crew Leader Examples of Duties Operates tractor to till cultivate and grade new turf areas to apply prescribed amounts of lime fertilizer insecticide and fungicide and to mow rough and fairway areas at designated cut exercising care not to injure turf or shrubs Operates hand or power mower to cut turf on green and tee areas Connects hose and sprinkler systems at designated points on course to irrigate turf Digs and rakes ground to prepare new greens grades and cleans traps and repairs roadbeds Plants trims and sprays trees and shrubs Performs other duties as assigned Basic Qualifications High school diploma or general education degree GED and 2 years of related experience andor training or equivalent combination of education and experience Preferred Qualifications Experience operating a tractor is preferred The City of Charleston offers an extensive benefits package for full-time employees including health dental and vision insurance employer-paid short and long term disability life insurance and employee assistance program annual and sick leave 11 paid holidays and 1 personal holiday every year tuition reimbursement participation with the SC Retirement System a defined benefit pension plan 401k and 457 plan options and many other benefits
