Position Summary
The Senior Assistant Golf Course Superintendent serves as a key leader within the Agronomy team, supporting the Superintendent and Director of Agronomy in the stewardship and presentation of the Club’s golf courses. This role is instrumental in upholding the highest standards of course conditioning, playability, and aesthetic excellence expected of a premier private club.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of all golf course maintenance operations, ensuring alignment with the Club’s standards of excellence.
Provide daily leadership, supervision, and mentorship to the ground's maintenance team, fostering a culture of accountability, efficiency, and safety.
Actively engage in hands-on maintenance activities including mowing, fertilization, irrigation, course setup, and detailed turf care practices.
Support the management and maintenance of the irrigation system, including programming, monitoring water usage, and diagnosing and resolving system deficiencies.
Apply fertilizers, pesticides, and plant protectants in strict accordance with regulatory guidelines and environmental best practices.
Monitor turf health conditions, proactively identifying stress factors, disease, or pest issues, and implementing effective corrective strategies.
Champion workplace safety by conducting routine inspections, reinforcing protocols, and ensuring compliance with all safety standards.
Assist with capital improvement initiatives and agronomic projects such as aerification, topdressing, course renovations, and enhancements.
Maintain accurate and detailed records of agronomic practices, chemical applications, and operational data.
Collaborate with the Golf Course Equipment Manager to ensure proper use, care, and maintenance of all equipment.
Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support the overall success of the Agronomy Department.
