Orchard Park Country Club is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Horticulturist to support the continued care and enhancement of the Club’s landscape and ornamental plantings. This role is responsible for maintaining the aesthetic appeal of the clubhouse grounds, gardens, and landscaped areas throughout the property. The ideal candidate will have experience in plant care, landscape maintenance, and seasonal horticultural planning, with a passion for creating visually appealing outdoor spaces that complement the overall club environment. The Horticulturist will work closely with the Grounds Superintendent and maintenance team to ensure the property maintains a high standard of presentation for members and guests.
Daily Tasks
• Maintain and care for all ornamental plantings, flower beds, shrubs, and landscaped areas throughout the property.
• Plan, install, and maintain seasonal flower displays and plant rotations.
• Perform planting, pruning, deadheading, mulching, edging, and general garden maintenance.
• Monitor plant health and identify pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies; implement appropriate treatments.
• Assist in developing and implementing landscape design improvements and beautification projects.
• Manage watering schedules and assist with irrigation systems for landscaped areas.
• Maintain plant propagation areas.
• Assist with ordering plants, soil amendments, fertilizers, and other horticultural supplies.
• Support property preparation for club events, tournaments, and seasonal displays.
• Maintain clean, organized garden and work areas while following safety procedures.
Skills & Qualifications
• Previous experience in horticulture, landscaping, greenhouse operations, or plant care.
• Strong knowledge of annuals, perennials, shrubs, and ornamental plant care suitable for the Western New York climate.
• Familiarity with plant identification, pruning techniques, soil health, and pest management.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
• Experience with landscaping tools and equipment such as trimmers, blowers, hand tools, and small machinery.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating with the grounds team.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining visually appealing landscapes.
• Availability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as needed during peak season.
Schedule: Full-time positions available. Includes weekends, holidays, and/or maintenance practices required by club events. Season runs April 1 - December 1
