The Greens Staff Member performs jobs involved in golf course maintenance. Each greens staff member may be assigned responsibility for the care and maintenance of several designated holes on the golf course.
DUTIES
The duties of a Greens Staff Member include:
- Operate powered equipment in mowing the golf course putting greens, aprons, tees, fairways, and rough areas.
- Water and fertilize putting greens, tees, and fairways.
- Grade and prepare a soil planting bed, lay sod, plant vegetative material, and seed putting greens, tees, fairways, and roughs.
- Change cups and tee markers; fill divots.
- Maintain ball washers and water coolers.
- Edge cart paths, edge, rake and maintain sand bunkers.
- Operate trucks and other light equipment in hauling materials and removing debris.
- Trim trees and shrubbery; cultivate flowers and shrubs.
- Lay walks and paths using gravel and asphalt mixes, excavate and backfill ditches and trenches with hand tools, repair and replace pipe on irrigation systems.
- Replace tee towels and flags when needed.
- Return all equipment to designated location at the maintenance facility, clean maintenance areas.
- Mark the course for cart control weekly, move cart control barriers, and replace worn or lost ropes and signs; may mark hazard and drop areas.
This position is a temporary and seasonal position. There are no benefits with the job (no vacation time, no sick time, no health benefits, etc.) The individual who fills this position must reapply if he or she is interested in the position for the following year.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Knowledge of tools, methods, and materials used in golf course ground landscape construction and maintenance work.
- Ability to safely operate trucks and motorized equipment and follow oral and written directions.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to lift and move 80 lbs.
PREFERRED SKILLS
- High school diploma.
