About the Role
Position Summary: The equipment operator, under supervision of the Assistant Superintendent or Crew Leader, performs work involving the use of large equipment, including tractors, loaders, trenchers, backhoes, trucks and other maintenance equipment on the golf course.
This position will report to the Director of Golf Course Operations or Assistant Superintendent The duties of the Equipment Operator are as follows, but are not limited to:
• Operates all types of mechanical equipment.
• Rake, edge and mow traps, trap banks and islands.
• Edge and mow curbs, cart paths, and lake banks.
• Clip hedges and trees. Clean, edge, weed, and mulch landscape beds.
• Hand-mow greens, tees and approaches.
• Paint and maintain ball washers, trash basket s, yardage markers, and hazard lines.
• Police course for trash and debris.
• Mows tees, approaches, collars, fairways and rough with proper equipment.
• Spike greens and top dresses. Aerifies greens, tees and fairways. Verticuts tees.
• Change tee markers and cups.
• Applies fertilizer and chemical applications.
• Assists in over-seeding, sprigging or laying sod.
• Ensures that the equipment is working at all times; refills fuel and oil daily; cleans equipment daily; and reports equipment problems or failures to Equipment Manager immediately.
• Reports to Superintendent and/or Asst. Superintendent any unusual conditions on the course.
• Performs other duties as designated by the Director of Golf Operation s or Asst. Superintendent.
Skills and Abilities
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work well with others.
• Mechanical aptitude: Knowledge of safe, efficient mechanical operation of tractors and other
• motorized equipment.
• Ability to read, comprehend and carry out necessary application instructions to ensure safety.
• Prior experience with mowing, edging and trimming equipment preferred.
• Possession of a valid driver's license.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
