About the Role
The Shell Point PGA Head Golf Professional will report to the Shell Point Director of Golf and is responsible for the day-to-day golf operations, staff leadership, member/player experience, and instructional programming.
The PGA Head Golf Professional serves as the operational leader responsible for delivering an exceptional day-to-day golf experience and ensuring the golf department runs smoothly.
Daily Golf Operations
- Oversee daily golf shop operations and ensure exceptional customer service.
- Manage tee sheet operations, pace of play, and the resident/member experiences.
- Coordinate daily play with golf course maintenance staff.
- Ensure compliance with Shell Point policies/standards and safety procedures.
Staff Leadership
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, schedule, and evaluate; golf shop staff, starters, and rangers.
- Conduct regular staff meetings and training sessions.
- Foster a positive, professional, and service-oriented team culture.
- Assist with employee performance management and development.
Member and Guest Experience
- Build strong relationships with members and guests.
- Address concerns, resolve complaints, and ensure high satisfaction levels.
- Welcome new members and help integrate them into club activities.
- Maintain a visible presence around the golf facility.
Tournament and Event Management
- Plan, organize, and execute tournaments, leagues, member events, and corporate outings.
- Prepare tournament materials, pairings, scoring, and results.
- Coordinate food and beverage, maintenance, and outside vendors for events.
- Ensure tournaments run efficiently and professionally.
Golf Instruction
- Provide private and group instruction.
- Develop junior golf, ladies', beginner, and player development programs.
- Conduct clinics and golf schools.
- Promote instructional services and grow participation.
Merchandising and Retail
- Assist with golf shop merchandising and product selection.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate ordering.
- Maintain attractive displays and merchandising standards.
- Help achieve retail sales goals.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain handicap services and tournament software.
- Prepare reports related to rounds, revenue, instruction, and events.
- Manage lesson scheduling and billing.
- Ensure accurate recordkeeping and compliance with club policies.
Financial Responsibilities
- Help manage departmental budgets.
- Monitor labor costs and scheduling efficiency.
- Support revenue growth through instruction, merchandising, and programming.
- Review daily sales and operational reports.
