Golf Maintenance Operator

Summary of Position Individuals in this position will perform a variety of duties to maintain the physical attributes of Brookview golf course and lawn bowling rinks. Flexible hours between 5:30 am to 2:00 pm Monday-Friday. Shift differential will be given to staff scheduled on weekends for this position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform these essential functions: Individuals in this position will perform a variety of duties to maintain the physical attributes of Brookview golf course and lawn bowling rinks. Responsibilities may include: • Mow and aerate greens, fairways, and boundary areas of the golf course. • Participate in daily set-up of golf courses for play. • General landscaping work, including ground prep and the planting of shrubs, plants, trees and flowers. • Remove and dispose of diseased trees, shrubs, plants, and other debris as directed. • Assist with, maintaining bunkers, trimming hedges, changing holes, and performing other routine maintenance as needed. • Maintain gardens around the facility and around the golf course. Supervisory Responsibility This position does not have employee supervisory responsibilities, however, staff will supervise participants to ensure safety, and enforcement of rules/regulations. Minimum and Desired Qualifications Minimum Qualifications • Ability to complete the essential duties and responsibilities of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. • 16 years of age. • Valid driver's license and good driving record. Desired Qualifications • Previous golf course maintenance or landscaping experience. • Golf maintenance equipment operation experience. Employee is subject to noise while operating equipment and general noises in outdoor city environments. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate and exchange information with others both in person and over the telephone. The employee is often required to remain in a stationary position, and frequently operate both heavy and light equipment/tools consistently found in public city maintenance operations and/or construction. Staff will frequently read and interpret documents, including safety manuals and operating procedures. Staff will frequently traverse around the golf course, climb ladders, and move in confined spaces. Will frequently lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
