About the Opportunity
Mesa Verde Country Club is seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Finance / Controller to join our executive leadership team. This role is responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the Club, ensuring fiscal integrity, and providing strategic financial guidance to support long-term success.
This is a key leadership position that partners closely with the General Manager and Board of Directors, offering a unique opportunity to influence financial strategy within a premier private club environment.
Position Summary
The Director of Finance / Controller is responsible for the overall financial management of the Club, including accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls. This role ensures compliance with all applicable regulations while delivering accurate, timely, and strategic financial insights.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead all accounting and financial operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll oversight, and financial reporting
• Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements to executive leadership and the Board of Directors
• Develop and manage the annual budget and ongoing financial forecasts
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations
• Establish and maintain strong internal controls and financial procedures
• Partner with department leaders to drive financial performance and accountability
• Oversee audits, tax filings, and external financial relationships
• Analyze financial data and provide strategic recommendations to support business decisions
• Lead and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required (CPA preferred)
• 7+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, preferably in hospitality, private club, or similar environment
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
• Experience working with executive leadership and/or boards
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly
Compensation & Benefits
• Salary range: $185,000 – $225,000 annually

Work Environment
