Controller / SVP, Finance and Accounting

Position Overview
Heritage Golf Group is seeking an experienced and highly polished Controller/SVP of Finance & Accounting to join its leadership team and oversee the company’s financial reporting, financial analysis, compliance, treasury management, and other accounting operations.
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting across a growing portfolio of golf clubs throughout the United States. This role will also partner closely with senior leadership, including the CEO and capital partners, to support strategic initiatives and provide financial insights that drive operational and investment decisions.
The ideal candidate will combine strong technical accounting expertise with the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly and confidently to executive leadership, board members, and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Accounting Leadership
• Oversee the preparation and delivery of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for Heritage Golf Group and its portfolio of clubs.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP accounting standards and maintain strong internal accounting policies and procedures.
• Lead the consolidation of financial results across a multi-unit operating platform of private clubs, daily-fee golf properties, and resort destinations.
• Manage the month-end close process and ensure the integrity of financial data across systems and reporting platforms.
• Partner with the FP&A team to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial performance analysis.
Executive & Board Reporting
• Prepare and deliver executive-level financial presentations for leadership, board meetings, and investor updates.
• Provide clear and insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making.
• Interact directly with the company’s capital partner, supporting reporting requests, financial reviews, and performance analysis.
• Support executive initiatives and strategic projects as directed by the CEO and CFO.
Treasury & Financial Management
• Oversee the company’s treasury operations, including cash management, liquidity planning, and banking relationships.
• Monitor financial performance and key operating metrics across the club portfolio.
• Support capital planning, investment analysis, and financial oversight of major initiatives.
Compliance & Internal Controls
• Maintain and strengthen internal controls to ensure financial integrity and operational accountability.
• Lead external audits and coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, and financial partners.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, lender requirements, and investor reporting standards.
Team Leadership & Process Improvement
• Lead and develop part of the FP&A corporate accounting team while collaborating closely with club accounting team.
• Identify and implement improvements in financial systems, reporting processes, and operational efficiencies.
• Support the continued growth of the organization through scalable financial infrastructure and best practices.
Qualifications
Education & Certifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
• CPA designation strongly preferred
• MBA or advanced financial certification is a plus
• 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience
• Experience in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role
• Background in multi-unit organizations, preferably within hospitality, golf, leisure, or service industries
• Experience working with private equity-backed companies strongly preferred
• Demonstrated experience supporting executive leadership and board-level reporting
Technical Skills
• Strong expertise in financial reporting, GAAP compliance, and accounting operations
• Experience overseeing consolidations across multiple entities or locations
• Advanced proficiency in financial analysis, Excel, and financial reporting systems
• Experience working with financial planning systems; Sage Intact and Bill.com preferred
• Familiarity with financial modeling platforms such as Anaplan is a plus
