General Definition of Work
The Sea Pines Country Club Fitness Center Attendant is responsible for ensuring that the Fitness Center is an inviting place that is well-stocked, clean, and organized for members’ enjoyment as well as the overall operation of the facility. This position reports to the Fitness and Wellness Director.
Essential Functions
The following functions are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work performed. The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.
Opening and closing Fitness Center and manning the Fitness Center desk as scheduled
Attending to country club members needs for assistance and safety while using the Fitness Center
Greets users of the Fitness Center as they enter and assists them in signing into the Fitness Center, politely verifying that they are members of Sea Pines Country Club or authorized guests.
Monitors Fitness Center and assists members with basic use of equipment, answers the phone, answers questions and provides information about Fitness and Pool schedules and programs
Updates usage statistics spreadsheet for Fitness Center and Pool during each shift
Keeps Fitness Center neat and clean, tidying up as needed to replace items to their proper places after use and cleaning machines at the beginning or end of the shift
Launders and folds towels regularly in order to keep a supply of clean towels available to members using the Fitness Center
Re-stocks water cooler cups, tissues, toilet paper and other items for member convenience and comfort as needed.
Assists the Fitness and Wellness Director in maintaining accurate Pool and Group Fitness calendars and keeping them available to the members
Attends all training sessions and staff meetings, researches assigned projects and topics as requested by Fitness and Wellness Director
Attains and maintains CPR and AED certification throughout tenure in position.
Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
Ability to clean and maintain the fitness center to required cleanliness standards.
Knowledge of and ability to perform required role in emergency situations.
Education and Experience
1 to 2 years’ experience preferred.

Physical Requirements
This work requires the regular exertion of up to 25 pounds of force, frequent exertion of up to 50 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 100 pounds of force; work regularly requires standing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently walking, speaking or hearing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions and occasionally requires sitting, climbing or balancing and tasting or smelling; work requires close vision; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word and conveying detailed or important instructions to others accurately, loudly or quickly; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, operating fitness equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work regularly requires working near moving mechanical parts and exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Work requires the ability to swim and work in aquatic environment.
