Machine Operators and Greenskeepers
Gleneagles Country Club is looking for a reliable Machine Operators and Greenskeepers to maintain our top of the line golf courses.
General Purpose of the Position:
The position will perform routine manual labor involved in golf course maintenance; semi-skilled grounds construction and maintenance work; operate small power equipment like blowers, edgers, string trimmers and Fly-mos; and occasionally perform work involving larger equipment like tractors, loaders, mowers, aerifiers, mechanical rakes, etc. Grounds Laborers will continually undergo and be exposed to training and development to prepare them to become an equipment operator..
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Loads and unloads materials.
Excavates and back fills ditches and trenches with hand tools. Cleans gutters, drains and culverts.
Cuts weeds and brush.
Operates portable equipment.
Assists tree trimmers by removing, cutting up and loading limbs.
Collects and empties litter cans, also janitorial work in cleaning and maintaining a building.
Hand water golf greens, tees and fairways.
Required to do any job pertaining to maintenance on golf course or common area as so directed by the Superintendent.
Communicate with co-workers, management, members, guests and others in a courteous and professional manner.
Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, safety rules and guidelines, work procedures and instruction.
Skills and Abilities Required:
Must have the physical strength, stamina and agility to perform the assigned duties.
Knowledge of methods, equipment and materials used in grounds and landscape maintenance and construction.
Working knowledge of an ability to safely use hand and power tools and equipment.
Ability to operate light trucks and motorized equipment.
Ability to follow oral and written directions.
Physical Requirement and Work Environment:
Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
Able to meet and perform the physical requirements and to work effectively in an environment which is typical of this position.
Frequent lifting, bending, climbing, stooping and pulling.
Frequent repetitive motions.
Continuous standing and walking.
Must be able to lift objects weighing more than 50 pounds.
Education and/or Experience:
High School diploma or GED required.
Post-secondary vocational/ technical training in electrical engineering, HVAC or refrigeration desirable.
Valid Florida driver’s license and ability meet requirements of driver’s insurance as established by the insurance carrier.
