About the Role
Position Summary
River Downs Golf Club is seeking a dependable and experienced Golf Course Equipment Mechanic to join the maintenance team. This position is responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing, and servicing golf course maintenance equipment, utility vehicles, small engines, mowers, tractors, and related machinery used in daily course operations.
The ideal candidate is mechanically skilled, organized, safety-minded, and able to work independently while supporting the golf course maintenance team in keeping all equipment operating efficiently and safely.
Key Responsibilities
Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain golf course maintenance equipment, including mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, carts, blowers, trimmers, sprayers, and small-engine equipment.
Perform preventive maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacement, lubrication, belt replacement, battery checks, tire repair, hydraulic maintenance, and general tune-ups.
Sharpen, adjust, and maintain reel and rotary cutting units to ensure proper quality of cut.
Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and engine-related issues.
Maintain accurate service records, repair logs, and preventive maintenance schedules.
Keep the maintenance shop clean, organized, and safe.
Assist with ordering, tracking, and maintaining parts, tools, supplies, fluids, and shop inventory.
Communicate equipment issues, repair timelines, and safety concerns to the Golf Course Superintendent or Equipment Manager.
Ensure all equipment is operating safely before being returned to service.
Assist the grounds team with course maintenance duties as needed.
Follow all River Downs Golf Club safety procedures and equipment operation standards.
Qualifications
Previous mechanic experience required; golf course, turf equipment, landscaping equipment, agricultural equipment, automotive, or small-engine experience preferred.
Knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, brakes, belts, bearings, reels, blades, and cutting equipment.
Ability to diagnose and repair mechanical problems efficiently.
Experience with golf course mowers and turf maintenance equipment is strongly preferred.
Welding, fabrication, and reel grinding experience is a plus.
Must be dependable, organized, and able to work with minimal supervision.
Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment and vehicles.
Valid driver's license preferred.
Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform physical work, including standing, bending, kneeling, lifting, and working in varying weather conditions.
Schedule
This position may be offered as full-time or part-time, depending on applicant availability and club needs. Typical scheduling may include weekday shifts, early morning availability, and some weekends or holidays during peak golf season as needed. Flexible part-time scheduling may be available for the right candidate.
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and employment status. Benefits may be available for eligible full-time employees and can be discussed during the hiring process.
Pay: $18 to $25 per hour, depending on experience
