About the Role
Overview
• Assists Golf Professional in instructing and with merchandising, on-course, golf car and personnel management responsibilities.
• Assists members by providing and interpreting golf policies, rules, and regulations.
• Conducts golf clinics.
• Maintains handicap records.
• Operates Pro Shop in absence of Head Golf Professional and First Assistant.
• Maintains Golf Pro Shop inventory control system.
• Oversees Pro Shop inventory and non-inventory items and periodically conducts physical counts of pro shop merchandise and scorecards, tees, pencils, ball markers, golf bag tags.
• Maintains and inventories all stock items necessary for in-house club repair work.
• Document and keep accurate records of all in-house and outside club repair work.
• Updates all charges and credits for club repair work.
• Assumes Golf Professional's and First Assistant's duties in his or her absence.
• Assists with daily opening and closing of golf operations.
• Assists in the coordination of tournaments and special events.
• Ensures all tournament winners are properly entered into the credit book with correct dates and description of event.
• Makes copies of tournament results and enters into the correct files.
• Assists with junior golf activities.
• Assists in all daily scheduling of lessons for all teaching assistants.
• Provides golf instruction. Keeps updated on times needed for golf clinics and group lessons.
• Records copies of all lesson fees.
• Performs starter or marshal duties as needed.
• Assists with maintaining USGA handicap system for members.
• Ensures course is properly marked.
• Attends staff meetings.
• Keep Golf Pro Shop counter and club repair area neat, clean, and organized at all times.
• Keeps informed of all upcoming club events.
Experience Required
• PGA Membership/Apprenticeship: Active pursuit of or completion of the PGA PGM program is commonly required.
• Operations Experience: 1-3 years of experience in golf operations, including managing tournaments, golf shop sales, and customer service.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and golf software like Golf Genius.
• Education: High School Diploma or GED minimum, with many positions favoring a bachelor's degree in business or golf management.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to work long hours, often 40-60 hours/week, including weekends and holidays, and endure varying weather conditions.
• Teaching/Fitting: Experience with golf instruction and club fitting is highly valued.
