About the Role
Compensation Amount: 19.00 USD Hourly
Job Summary: The Spray Technician reports directly to the golf course superintendent and assistant golf course superintendent. Responsibilities include mixing, preparing and applying chemical solutions such as insecticides, herbicides, and fungicides. The position is responsible for maintaining pesticide and fertilizer inventory and keeping records of pesticide and fertilizer applications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Applies fertilizer and chemical applications.
• Updates spray records, inventory and Material Safety Data Sheets.
• Calibrates spray equipment and fertilizer spreaders.
• Performs general upkeep and maintenance on spray equipment.
• Diagnoses pest and fungus issues, once properly trained.
• Performs golf maintenance duties as assigned by the Golf Course Superintendent and/or Assistant Golf Course Superintendent on non-spray days. Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Ability to operate trucks and light motorized equipment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a commercial applicator license in category A and E, paid for by the employer.
• Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations.
• Must have a willingness to learn.
• Ability to maintain a neat and organized workspace.
• Ability to understand and follow oral direction.
• Strong attention to detail is required.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to wear applicator suits, full face respirators or chemical‑resistant apparel.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms.
• The employee is often required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls.
• They will occasionally be required to balance, stoop, twist upper body, kneel and climb.
• The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly.
• Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color and peripheral vision and depth perception.
• Moderate exposure to extreme cold, heat, working outdoors, chemicals, pesticides, gasoline, vibration, pollen, dust, mechanical hazards and electrical hazards.
• Noise level is typically moderate to loud.
• Ability to work extended hours during golf season including weekends and holidays.
