POSITION DETAILS
DIRECTOR OF GOLF
The City of Groveport, Ohio, is central Ohio's small town. Groveport is a growing City in southeastern Franklin County. The community has a state of the art recreation and aquatic center, a world class golf course, an excellent arts and education program, several parks and a quaint Main Street historic area. We are looking for a Director of Golf to join our team and direct the Golf Department. SUMMARY: Director of Golf is responsible for all aspects of the operation, maintenance, and over site for the Golf Department for the City of Groveport.
QUALIFICATIONS: An example of acceptable qualifications:
Completion of secondary education or equivalent (bachelor's degree in business management, public administration, park and recreation management or related field preferred); three (3) to five (5) years of relevant work experience; or any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Class A PGA Professional; must possess a valid Ohio driver's license and maintain insurability under the Municipality's vehicle insurance policy.
EQUIPMENT OPERATED:The following are examples only and are not intended to be all inclusive:
Golf carts, range picker, power washer, cellular phone, personal computer, computer software, printer, copy machine, fax machine, and other standard business office equipment.
INHERENTLY HAZARDOUS OR PHYSICALLY DEMANDING WORKING CONDITIONS:
The employee has exposure to chemical compounds found in an office environment (e.g., toner, correction fluid, etc.); works in or around crowds; has contact with potentially violent or emotionally distraught persons; has exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy weather conditions; works second or third shift; works rotating shifts; occasionally lifts objects 40 lbs or less; occasionally carries objects 40 lbs or less; occasionally pushes objects 40 lbs or less; occasionally pulls objects 40 lbs or less.

JOB DUTIES in order of importance
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:For purposes of 42 USC 12101:
40%(1) Supervises all staff (e.g., schedules and assigns tasks, interviews job applicants, recommends the hiring of job applicants, recommends discipline, recommends and adjusts pay assignments, evaluates performance, receives grievances or employee complaints, approves and recommends the approval of leave requests, attends or participates in meetings in which policy questions are reviewed or discussed, assists with the development of policy, recommends policy changes, has access to other employees' personnel files, etc.); enforces all rules and regulations of the department; develops short-term and long-term planning; submits and processes payroll; directs the daily operations of the department.
25%(2) Provides outstanding customer services; responds to inquiries, customer complaints, and other issues; promotes the services of the department; acts as spokesperson for the department; and monitors playing conditions and pace of play.
15%(3) Formulates and monitors budget; accounts for all monies collected by the department; processes financial documentation in accordance with established procedures; researches and recommends funding sources to Council; recommends new projects, capital and land acquisitions; attends Council meetings; prepares reports as necessary.
20%(4) Monitors and evaluates maintenance and upkeep of buildings, facilities, and equipment; recommends maintenance, repairs, and improvements to buildings, facilities, and equipment.
(5) Maintains contact with vendors, the general public, and various government agencies/officials in order to obtain or disseminate information related to the essential position functions.
(6) Maintains required licensures and certification.
(7) Meets all job safety requirements and all applicable OSHA safety standards that pertain to essential functions.
