About the Role
Job Summary
The Equipment Manager is responsible for the comprehensive maintenance, repair, and operational readiness of all golf course maintenance equipment, automotive apparatus, and powered tools. This role requires technical expertise, strong inventory management skills, and the ability to supervise and train maintenance staff effectively.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Repair
Diagnosis and Repair: Promptly inspects, diagnoses, adjusts, and performs precise mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repairs on a diverse fleet of equipment, including gasoline and diesel engines, light construction, and automotive apparatus.
Preventative Maintenance (PM): Develops, implements, and maintains a rigorous preventative maintenance schedule for all equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
Specialized Maintenance: Executes technical tasks such as reel and bedknife grinding/sharpening, general motor overhauls, and installation/adjustment of braking systems.
Fabrication: Performs necessary machining or welding work to fabricate or repair fittings and components.
Inventory & Financial Management
Procurement: Manages the purchasing of all parts, repair supplies, and fuel, securing competitive pricing and maintaining vendor relationships.
Inventory Control: Tracks, controls, and manages inventory levels of parts and supplies to align with budget goals and operational needs.
Record Keeping: Maintains accurate, detailed records of all preventative maintenance, repairs performed, parts ordered, and associated expenses.
III. Shop & Safety Management
Organization: Organizes and maintains a clean, safe, and efficient maintenance facility (the shop).
Safety: Ensures all equipment is operated and repaired in compliance with established safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
Experience: Demonstrated experience in the maintenance and repair of light and heavy construction equipment, internal combustion engines, and hydraulic systems. Specific knowledge of specialized golf course equipment (mowing equipment, reel/bedknife maintenance) is NOT essential. We will train on the specifics of golf course equipment.
Technical Skills: Proficient in diagnosing mechanical troubles and skilled in the use of specialized repair tools, welding, and machining.
Knowledge: Comprehensive knowledge of the theory, care, and operation of internal combustion engines, hydraulic systems, and mowing equipment maintenance principles.
License: Valid Driver’s License required.
Communication: Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and communicate effectively in English to complete job duties and interact with team members.
Physical Requirements

Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds with assistance.
Frequent standing, walking, crouching, kneeling, using hands, and reaching.
Ability to work in various conditions, including exposure to outdoor weather, noise (Loud), moving mechanical parts, fumes, and occasionally toxic materials.
