Head Mechanic
Job Summary of Head Mechanic:
This leadership role oversees the maintenance and repair of golf course equipment, ensuring all machinery operates efficiently and safely. The position is responsible for preventative maintenance programs, mechanical diagnostics, inventory management, and supporting the daily performance of the equipment fleet to maintain high operational standards.
Job Duties and Responsibilities of Head Mechanic:
Develop and manage a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for all equipment.Inspect, diagnose, adjust, and repair mechanical issues on gasoline and diesel-powered equipment.Perform mower grinding, sharpening, motor overhauls, reel maintenance, and brake system adjustments.Complete machining and welding tasks required for equipment repairs.Order parts and supplies while tracking expenses and maintaining inventory controls.Maintain accurate service records, repair logs, and preventative maintenance documentation.Monitor fuel inventories and manage equipment-related operational expenses.Apply knowledge of internal combustion engines, hydraulic systems, and mowing equipment maintenance.Schedule and coordinate preventative service to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance facility.Assist with interviewing, training, scheduling, and evaluating maintenance team members.Support the development of ongoing technical training programs.Perform additional duties as assigned to support department operations.Qualifications and Experience of Head Mechanic:
Certificate from a technical school or equivalent mechanical training and experience.Experience repairing light and heavy maintenance equipment and automotive machinery.Experience supervising or supporting maintenance personnel.Strong knowledge of engine theory, hydraulics, and mechanical systems.Valid driver's license required.Mechanical certification from a gas and diesel engine training program preferred.Ability to lift up to 100 pounds occasionally and work in outdoor conditions.Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.Benefits of Head Mechanic:
