Job Summary
This position provides excellent food and beverage service for members and their guests in our Men's Grille, abiding by the service standards of the Club. The staff will be expected to have an excellent understanding of outdoor and table-side service. The Men's Grille server position will also be expected to go above and beyond to deliver memorable events, while bringing a high level of energy and professionalism.
Education and/or Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent required. Two or more years of fine dining, hospitality, or club service experience preferred.
• Strong organizational skills to prioritize work activities.
• Strong interpersonal skills required.
• Current ServSafe certification.
Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations
• Greet and acknowledge members and guests.
• Maintains a polished, professional appearance in accordance with club standards.
• Is knowledgeable about all food and beverage menus, including the wine list, cocktail offerings, spirit lists, and non-alcoholic beverage options.
• Proactively recommends food, wine, and beverage pairings to enhance the guest experience.
• Collaborates with server assistants, bartenders, and kitchen staff to ensure accuracy and timeliness of orders.
• Learns members’ names and their special preferences.
• Strong knowledge of wine and spirits.
• Knowledge of and ability to perform required role during emergency situations.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize in high-volume situations.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Attention to detail and commitment to service excellence.
Job Tasks/Duties
• Completes opening and closing sidework to ensure readiness and cleanliness of dining areas.
• Provides immediate attention to all members and guests upon being sat.
• Makes sure that children are in the appropriate type of seat and are safe and secure.
• Maintains comprehensive knowledge of all menu items, daily specials, wine list, and upcoming club events.
• Fills and maintains drinks, including water, throughout service.
• Follows the steps of service as outlined by the Club using correct table and seat numbers.
• Ensure that the correct account numbers and names are given for billing.
• Knowledge and use of fine dining service protocol (women served first, serve from the right, clear from the left, etc.)
• Efficiently serves food and drinks in a friendly and courteous manner.
• Places orders with kitchen; informs cooks about any special cooking instructions.
• Assembles food on tray; procures items from each station as necessary ahead of food arrival.
• Serves meals; places dishes by courses in front of each person.
• Checks back to ensure member and guest satisfaction; replenishes water and butter as necessary.
• Removes soiled dishes. Completely clears tables after each course and resets them with appropriate silverware.
• Presents dessert menus, suggests and serves dessert, coffee and after-dinner drinks.
• Accurately pours, serves, and monitors alcohol service in compliance with laws and club policies.
• Keeps dining room and bus station areas clean.
• Clears, cleans and resets tables that have been vacated.
• Advises supervisor of any complaints as soon as they occur
• Consistently follows local and state laws and the club’s policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages to members and guests.
• Participates in ongoing training sessions on wine, spirits, service standards, and safety protocols.
Physical Requirement and Work Environment
• Required to stand for long periods and walk, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, stretch and twist or reach.
• Push, pull or lift up to 50 pounds.
• Continuous repetitive motions.
• Work in hot, humid and noisy environment.
Job Type: Full-time
