About the Role
Position Title: Bartender
Reports to: Food & Beverage Managers
Supervises: n/a
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Job Summary
The Bartender is responsible for delivering an exceptional beverage experience to members and guests. This role involves preparing and serving drinks, maintaining the bar area, and ensuring a positive, memorable experience that reflects our club’s commitment to quality service and hospitality. The Bartender works closely with the F&B team to uphold the club’s standards and create a welcoming environment.
Essential Duties include, but are not limited to:
Trust and Teamwork
• Work collaboratively with servers, barbacks, and management to provide efficient, coordinated service during events, peak hours, and daily operations
• Communicate effectively with the team members and respond promptly to requests, ensuring a seamless experience for members and guests
• Foster a positive, team-oriented atmosphere, supporting colleagues to create a smooth, enjoyable service flow
Effective Communication
• Provide clear, friendly communication with members and guests, offering recommendations and answering questions about beverages and specials
• Stay up-to-date on menu changes and promotions, accurately relaying information and ensuring all drink orders are delivered to member specifications
• Maintain organized, accurate transactions through the POS system, handling member charges and closing tabs efficiently and professionally
Innovation
• Assist with developing and suggesting new cocktail recipes and seasonal specials to keep the beverage menu fresh and engaging for members
• Keep the bar well-stocked, organized, and prepared for service anticipating needs to prevent shortages and improve efficiency during high-traffic periods
• Follow recipe guidelines so service is efficient and product is consistent
Balance and Appreciation
• Take member preferences into account when creating and serving beverages, striving to offer personalized service that enhances their experience
• Show appreciation for feedback and consistently strive to improve service quality, keeping member satisfaction as a top priority
• Exhibit a welcoming attitude and maintain a respectful, courteous demeanor towards all members, guests and fellow staff
• Other duties as assigned
Education and/or Experience
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years of bartending experience
• Knowledge of mixology and classic cocktails
• CARE, TIPS, or ServSafe Alcohol certification preferred
• Experience creating and crafting cocktails and programs, preferred
Job Knowledge, Core Competencies and Expectations
• Strong customer service skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor
• Ability to maintain a high level of member contact, always ensuring visibility and attentiveness
• Skilled in multitasking and time management, especially during busy service hours
• Proficient in POS systems
• Must be able to follow all food & beverage safety and sanitation guidelines, as well as adhere to alcohol service protocols
• Flexible schedule, with availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Ability to stand for extended periods and move throughout the bar area to serve guests
• Frequent lifting and carrying of items up to 25 lbs, with occasional lifting of items up to 50 lbs
• Ability to bend, reach, and stoop as needed to stock supplies and access bar equipment
• Must be 21 years of age or older
