About the Role
The A La Carte Server at Bryn Mawr Country Club (BMCC) provides professional food and beverage service to club members and guests while maintaining the club’s high standards of hospitality and service. Servers ensure members and guests receive attentive, efficient, and courteous service throughout their dining experience in the club’s dining rooms, patios, and event spaces.
Job Tasks
• Sets up side station and performs assigned side work prior to service including stocking linens, silverware, glassware, condiments, and service trays.
• Provides immediate and courteous attention to all members and guests upon seating to ensure a welcoming and professional dining experience.
• Distributes menus and informs members and guests of daily specials, featured items, or club promotions.
• If local water conservation laws permit, fills glasses with ice water; answers questions about menu items and suggests appropriate selections.
• Takes members’ and guests’ food and beverage orders accurately and efficiently.
• Places orders with the kitchen and communicates any special cooking instructions, allergies, or dietary requests to kitchen staff.
• Assembles food on trays and collects items from various kitchen stations as necessary.
• Serves meals promptly and professionally, placing dishes by course in front of each guest according to proper service standards.
• Checks back with members and guests to ensure satisfaction and replenishes water, butter, or other table items as needed.
• Removes soiled dishes, utensils, and glassware throughout service to maintain a clean and organized table.
• Suggests and serves desserts, coffee, and after-dinner beverages to enhance the dining experience.
• Verifies the accuracy of items ordered and prepares the member charge slip (chit) for signature in accordance with club procedures.
• Maintains cleanliness of tables, dining room areas, and service/bus stations throughout the shift.
• Advises the supervisor immediately of any member or guest complaints or service concerns.
• Performs closing duties including resetting tables, cleaning service areas, and restocking supplies as assigned by the manager.
• Attends pre-meal meetings conducted by the Dining Room Manager to review menus, specials, and service expectations.
• Demonstrates basic knowledge of alcoholic beverages including beer, wine, and cocktails in order to answer member questions and provide appropriate recommendations.
