About the Role
PREP COOK ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
• Ingredient Preparation: Assist in the preparation of ingredients by chopping, slicing, dicing, and measuring, following the recipes and standards set by the head chef.
• Food Organization: Ensure that all ingredients are organized, labeled, and ready for use during service.
• Stock Maintenance: Keep an inventory of kitchen supplies, notifying the head chef or supervisor when items need to be restocked.
• Equipment Care: Maintain and clean kitchen equipment, including knives, cutting boards, and utensils.
• Sanitation: Adhere to strict sanitation and food safety guidelines to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
LINE COOK ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Cooking: Execute dishes according to established recipes, including sautéing, grilling, frying, baking, and plating.
• Quality Control: Ensure that dishes meet presentation and taste standards before they are sent to guests.
• Timeliness: Work efficiently and collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure that dishes are prepared and served promptly during peak dining hours.
• Station Cleanup: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of your station during and after service, including regular cleaning and sanitization of equipment and surfaces.
• Teamwork: Collaborate with fellow cooks, chefs, and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service and efficient preparation of orders. Willingness to learn and adapt to the needs of the kitchen.
THIS POSITION REQUIRES EVENING, WEEKEND, AND SOME HOLIDAY HOURS
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
• High School education is required, culinary education is preferred
• Previous experience as a prep cook or line cook in a restaurant or similar establishment is preferred.
• Knowledge of food preparation techniques, including knife skills and various cooking methods.
• Strong attention to detail, especially in terms of food quality, presentation, and sanitation.
• Strong work ethics, reliability, and punctuality.
• Ability to effectively and professionally deal with members, some of whom may require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger
• Ability to listen effectively and to speak English clearly
• Ability to achieve positive member relations and maximize member satisfaction
PHYSICAL DEMANDS – ABILITY TO:
• Physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods, life, and carry up to 50 pounds, and work in a hot and fast-paced kitchen.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
• Ability to stand, walk frequently; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
• Ability to perform the duties of this job while exposed to outside weather conditions.
• Ability to express and exchange ideas by means of the spoken word accurately, loudly and quickly.
