About the Role
Job Summary
Castle Highlands is currently seeking a Golf Course Mechanic with expertise to keep our golf course equipment running smoothly and efficiently. Under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent, the Mechanic works independently in the repair and maintenance of various gasoline and diesel-powered golf course maintenance equipment and the club's gasoline golf cart fleet. A skilled and proactive maintenance approach will ensure the course remains operational, safe, and ready for players to enjoy. This position is seasonal from May 1 to October 15, a great opportunity for retirees, or anyone seeking a fun, active seasonal role in a vibrant outdoor environment while contributing to the overall excellence of our golf course operations.
Duties
Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on golf course machinery, including mowers, utility vehicles, carts and irrigation systems
Diagnose mechanical issues using schematics and technical manuals, then execute repairs promptly to minimize downtime
Repair and service diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical components, and heavy equipment such as tractors and loaders
Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering techniques, and heavy lifting to complete repairs efficiently
Maintain detailed service records, parts inventories, and repair logs to ensure accurate documentation of all maintenance activities
Collaborate with the groundskeeping team to coordinate equipment usage schedules and address any operational concerns
Conduct electrical troubleshooting and repairs on generators, lighting systems, and other electrical components as needed
Experience
Proven work experience or service technician background with a focus on automotive or heavy equipment repair
Experience working with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical wiring, and schematics
Hands-on experience repairing Toro or similar heavy machinery is highly desirable
Familiarity with automotive repair techniques including welding, soldering, and the use of various hand tools and power tools
Strong mechanical knowledge combined with excellent customer service skills to communicate effectively with team members
Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during complex repairs
Prior experience in equipment or generator repair is a plus; certification in heavy machinery or automotive repair is advantageous
